Red case with glossy finish
5 Gauge Curtain Wheel
Jagged stepped shape in the hard plate next to the key way which should be easily visible (see images)
Not to be mistaken for the similarly designed RED UNION J2234E which has a different shape of hard plate.

Use a 5 Gauge tension tool (such as the A’ Jam quick pick) with a standard 11.8mm pick).

– Using small lifts, go through the lever pack and look for any lever that is giving resistance then lift.

– When a lever is in the anti-pick position there will be little to no movement.

– When a lever is in the picked position there will be definitive movement in the lever and you may hear a ‘ticking’ sound as you move it up and down.

– When a lever is in the picked position it will still ‘tick’ up and down no matter how much tension you are using.

– Closed gate lever pack (the bolt resides within the levers at all times).

– Square notched bolt stump with ‘V’ notched anti-picks in the levers.

– Each lever has one anti-pick and it could be either at the top or the bottom.

– A/B/A pattern picking (3rd and 5th lever are the same or the 1st and 3rd lever are the same depending on which side of the lock you are on.

Use a 5 Gauge tension tool (such as the A’ Jam quick pick) with a standard 11.8mm pick).

You could use a Union decoder if you aren’t confident at picking.

Drill to pick:
Measure 17mm up from the top of the key way then 5mm towards bolt. Use a 6mm hard-plate drill bit followed by a flat ended drill bit to completely open up the hole without damaging the levers.

Drill for the stump (the last resort):
Measure 17mm up from the top of the key way then 8mm towards bolt. Consecutive holes may need to be drilled to remove the stump. Use a 6mm hard-plate drill bit.
